Stephen King rightly says, “If you don’t have the time to read, you don’t have the tools to write.” It is true books give wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to the things around us. With these very thoughts in mind, the idea of opening a library for our parish children was conceived. A few parishioners got together giving it root and with Fr. Gilbert giving his total support it grew. Donations of various kinds of books helped it bloom. Today we have a wonderful collection of more than 500 story books, a large collection of reference books, biblical books and more, that our young children can avail of.
The library ‘A Novel Idea’ was inaugurated by Fr. Gilbert on 6th August, Vianney Sunday. An overwhelming number of parents and very eager young readers gathered together that day, as Fr. Gilbert blessed the library and spoke about the benefits of reading. We were also joined by the other fathers from our Parish.
Registration forms were handed over and are still available at the parish office. Donation of books is still welcome. The library will be open on Thursdays and Saturdays between 10 am and 11 am. We hope parents encourage their children to join the library because we believe that there in more treasure found in books than anywhere else.
