Baptism

The Sacrament of Baptism is the first rite of initiation into Christianity and is fundamental to the Christian faith, serving as the gateway to life in the Spirit and the entry point into the Church. It is through Baptism that individuals are freed from sin, reborn as children of God, and incorporated into the community of believers. (CCC 1213)
This sacrament not only signifies a new birth and a commitment to the Christian life but also establishes a sacramental bond of unity among all baptised individuals. Baptism is essential for salvation, as it initiates the believer into the fullness of life in Christ and the mission of the Church, making it a vital step in the journey of faith and spiritual growth (CCC 1277)
Preparation for Baptism of Infants:
Parents and expecting couples who wish to get their child baptized in the Church must contact the parish office at the earliest.
Parents and Godparents of the child must attend the Pre-Baptism Course at Our Lady of Lourdes Church or another parish. (If you are attending the course elsewhere, you must provide the course certificate while submitting the necessary documents required.)
It is advised to register for the Pre-Baptism course in the early stages of pregnancy itself to avoid inconveniences at a later stage.
The Pre-Baptism Catechesis in our parish are usually held in the third week of January, March, June and October.
Baptisms are celebrated on Sundays after the 10:30 a.m. Mass
Documents to be submitted before the Baptism of Infants:
Municipal Birth Certificate of the Child
Hospital Discharge Summary - which states the date of birth of the child (only if the Municipal Birth Certificate is Unavailable)
Church Marriage Certificate of the Parents
Pre-Baptism Catechesis Certificate of the Parents
Pre-Baptism Catechesis Certificate of the God-Parents
Preparation for Baptism of Adults:
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) prepares adults to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist on Easter Sunday.
