Holy Orders

The Sacrament of Holy Orders is a vital sacrament in the Catholic Church through which men are ordained as bishops, priests, or deacons, enabling them to serve the Church and its faithful. This sacrament is conferred by the bishop through the imposition of hands and a solemn prayer of consecration, invoking the Holy Spirit to bestow the necessary graces for their ministry. (CCC 1597)
Holy Orders is essential for the continuation of Christ's mission, as it empowers the ordained minister to perform sacred duties, including the administration of the sacraments, particularly the Eucharist. The sacrament imprints an indelible spiritual character on the recipient, signifying their unique role in the Church and their commitment to serve in the name of Christ. (CCC 1536)
